Monday's TBTN Meeting Minutes

On Monday, February 23rd, a group of Madison's Take Back the Night planners met to discuss the event and some of the tasks that need to be completed before the big day. Here is what was discussed:

- This year's Take Back the Night march and rally will be on Saturday, April 18th
- Two events that are lightly associated with TBTN is a concert on Thursday April 16th with Jennifer Baumgardner and a movie showing on Monday April 20th
- The theme of this year's TBTN will be associated with violence in the Hmong community
- Events for TBTN include: a rally at Library Mall, a march on State Street with chants and signs, a speech at the Capitol (speaker TBA), candlelight vigil, and a concert at Steep and Brew (performer TBA)
- Last year about $1,300 was used, with about $700 left over
- This year we currently have $1,000 available from the UW Campus Women's Center and are working toward writing and receiving grants and looking for possible sponsors (although last year no money was used from sponsors)
- We are expecting a tentative budget of $2,500 for this year
- We need further help with many different areas: finances, publicity, logistics, work with organizations, outreach, etc.
- More advertising this year! Let's create a buzz and make this a big event!
